The year is slowly but surely drawing to a close. This is the last newsletter in 2009. The year ends on a successful note for us with the recent innovaphone PBX Version 8 release. Links to all V8 informational material in various languages have been summarised in this newsletter!
We wish all our readers a very merry Christmas, and a happy new year. May 2010 be a successful year for all. The innovaphone team is taking its annual Christmas break from December 24 2009 until January 3 2010. As in every year, we have a small support team for emergencies. The time has come! V8 is now officially in the running. Version 8 brings you an even more powerful innovaphone PBX. The new PBX Version is looking good: equipped with numerous new features, it provides increased flexibility, even more applications and valuable functions for users and administrators. For example, simple mobile phone integration into the telephone system. Moreover the PBX V8 is multi-tenant capable and thus perfect for use as a Hosted PBX. New innovaphone price list
The release of the innovaphone PBX Version 8 has been accompanied by a revised innovaphone price list. The switch over to the new V8 licensing model has meant the innovaphone price list could be much simplified and shortened. Please see your innovaphone contact person for a copy.
>> New V8 licenses
There are two major changes as well as several smaller changes: The Basic license and PBX license have both been replaced by the Port license. Licenses can be ordered and installed individually to match current needs. This means the new licensing model will be much clearer and easier to manage. Fewer licenses are needed as not everything that was previously licensed now needs to be licensed (e.g. multiple registrations). Furthermore licenses are more exact and fairer because the exact number of single licenses can be bought.
The new Port license is based on the number of ports on the installed PBX. A port is a PBX object, which serves to register a device: either internal devices for PBX subscribers (users, executive) or trunk and gateway connections to the public network. The Port license already incorporates a good discounting system. Licenses reduce in price as the number of subscribers increases. There is one special feature for the first 20 licenses: special pricing for the first twenty licenses to facilitate entry to small systems.
The Mobility license is a new addition: it enables a mobile telephone to be operated in parallel as a subscriber on the PBX. Application of gateway, standby and switchboard licenses has not been changed.

There are new prices effective immediately for all fixed line telephones. In future we will no longer provide hardware service for innovaphone telephones – with the exception of the IP150.
Please note that the innovaphone IP-DECT Mobile Handset IP50 (order number 50-00050-001, without power supply, charging cradle and belt clip) will be discontinued. The last date for ordering is April 1 2010.
>> New: Software Service Credits
V8 also brings a new kind of license for software service management: the so-called software service credits (SSC) - a license which can be bought and tied to a project. Administration is very easy and is managed in a similar way as other licenses under the new internet portal ‘my.innovaphone’.
The Software Service Credits (SSCs) replace the Software Service Agreement. A separate contract is not necessary. All products, which can be put under Software Service have been labelled in the price list with the number of SSCs necessary.
A warranty extension can only be bought once for the entire period. Delivery is in the form of licenses which must be linked to the appropriate device under https://my.innovaphone.com. Please note that this must take place immediately upon receipt of the devices and must be installed for the entire period in one go! Please see the important notes in the price list.
>> Version 7
V7 software products can still be ordered according to the amended V7 price list, which you can request from your innovaphone contact person. Please note the new price of the article PBX-LIC-10. V7 software can now also be included in the Software Service using Software Service Credits. Please see the amended V7 price list for the number of SSCs needed and for the new PBX-LIC-10 price (Version 7 or earlier).
>> Changes for multi-chargers
The following multi-chargers have been removed from the price list:

The following multi-chargers have been incorporated in the new price list:

>> 3rd Party products no longer incorporated
The 3rd party products from the manufacturers Buchberger and Stonevoice will be dropped completely.
>> No longer supported by V8
The products IP3000 and IP3000DD will also no longer be supported under V8.
Callmonitor: Busy lamp field for the innovaphone PBX
innovaphone provides ‘Callmonitor’ for the innovaphone PBX. Call monitor is a busy lamp field which is easy to install and simple to configure. ‘Callmonitor’ is freeware just like ‘Click to Dial’ (see newsletter 07/2009).
Callmonitor shows the status of up to 400 extension numbers – there is no interaction. The application can be started repeatedly thus enabling any number of PBXs – e.g. at various locations – to be displayed. Each window can be named individually, for example with the location name enabling a good overview of the entire situation. The busy lamp field is sized automatically and “remembers” its position – restarting Callmonitor automatically returns you to the previous position.
All kinds of extensions are shown in ‘Callmonitor’, whether innovaphone IP telephones, IP-DECT, analogue devices or 3rd party IP phones. ‘Callmonitor’ can be operated simultaneously on the same computer as the innovaphone Operator. ‘Callmonitor’ runs independently and can for example also be operated on a second screen in combination with the innovaphone Operator. Thus the main screen can be used to switch with the second screen for the ‘Callmonitor’. Callmonitor runs on every innovaphone PBX from Version 6 and only under Windows (from XP, therefore also with Vista).

*Experimental* Linux applications on the IP6000
For the time being a preliminary version of the new Application Platform for the innovaphone PBX is available under V8. It enables the Open Source operation system Linux to be operated on the IP6000 in parallel to the innovaphone PBX firmware. The innovaphone PBX runs as usual under innovaphone’s own operating system, however it enables a second system to be operated which can be used to implement external applications. The great news here is that you do not need a separate server for your Linux applications; instead the application is operated directly on the innovaphone Box.
This opens up totally new possibilities for those who would like to experiment with own Linux applications. No wish remains unheard - from own billing applications to conference applications. innovaphone Dialogues 2010 in Oslo and Helsinki
Further innovaphone dialogue events will take place outside of Germany at the beginning of next year. One of the events will take place on January 19 2010 in Oslo (Norway). Another is planned on February 4 2010 in Helsinki (Finland). We are looking forward to introducing you to new innovaphone PBX Version 8 topics and innovations! Be sure to make a note of the dates now!
Retrospect: innovaphone V8 Dialogue (November and December 2009)
The V8 Release provided the occasion to mix with innovaphone partners and discuss interesting innovations. We were pleased with the growing number of participants at the event “innovaphone dialogue”. More than 300 participants attended to hear all about Version 8. The six dates in Hamburg, Zurich, Cologne, Vienna, Sindelfingen and Breda/NL were extremely successful – but take a look yourself!
Retrospect: Koblenz ‚Nacht der Technik‘ on November 7 2009 (Technology evening)
The fourth ‘Koblenzer Nacht der Technik’ was held on November 7 2009 in the Chamber of Trade’s metal and technology centre in Koblenz. Great events provided visitors with an interesting and surprising insight into the city of Koblenz’ technology and educational system. innovaphone was represented by its partner, KEVAG Telekom GmbH. A complete innovaphone solution with working external access was shown to the public. There was a lot of interest shown in the VoIP based solution from innovaphone. A heartfelt thank you goes to KEVAG Telekom GmbH for their hard work!
Retrospect: Comconsult Voice and Video Forum 2009 from November 09 - 12 in Königswinter
This year’s Comconsult Voice and Video forum was held in Königswinter on November 9 – 12 2009. It gave participants the possibility to gain information on the current VoIP market and to discuss current trends. innovaphone participated once again and was pleased at the strong interest shown in the innovaphone stand.
Retrospect: 11th ITM Carrier Forum on November 17 and 18 2009 in Bad Neuenahr
Carrier-Ethernet has established itself in recent years as the technological answer to growing demands on carrier networks. State-of-the-art developments in this area were presented on November 17 and 18 2009 at the 11th ITM Carrier Forum in Bad Neuenahr. The forum was organized by our partner ITM GmbH and presented virtual solutions for security and Voice over IP, as well as for access, core and funk solutions. innovaphone also participated and presented its VoIP based solution to the masses of interested visitors. The development department grows: Matthias Schertler
Matthias Schertler is 30 years old and has been working for innovaphone since 2007. He has proven himself as a working student and doing practical work for his thesis at university when he was involved in projects such as SRTP, TLS and central user authentication. Matthias Schertler joined the innovaphone development team as a computer scientist on a permanent basis in September and is concentrating on the topic of security. Matthias Schertler originally comes from Kirchheim/Teck in Southern Germany and graduated from the University of Ulm. Prior to his work as a software developer at innovaphone, he was self-employed and also worked at DaimlerChrysler in IT security, management and in quality control of software projects.
