The conditions on ships and oil platforms are fundamentally different from those on land: High humidity and high salt concentration in the air, constant vibrations, explosive environments and high temperature fluctuations place much higher demands on technical products in terms of resilience than conventional use. The approval of the innovaphone IP811 VoIP gateway, the IP29-8 analog adapters and IP111 end devices means that the innovaphone communication solution including IP telephony and Unified Communications can now also be used on board! All three products are EN60945 approved. The stricter certification requirements as per DNV GL-CG-0339 were also implemented for the gateway components and the analog adapter. Christian Prednik, Area Sales Manager at innovaphone, explains: “Following the vigorous DNV GL testing process, we are now able to fully meet and guarantee the high standards of operational safety and performance in the maritime industry”.
innovaphone has already implemented a large number of projects in the maritime environment in the past, but the company assumes that “as the DNV GL approval is the worldwide standard that most ship suppliers implement, business on the high seas will receive a further boost. We see great potential in this market and we are convinced that having been awarded this approval, we will now be able to realize further exciting projects,” confirms Bernd Riedl, who is responsible for the approval process at innovaphone.
